JULIA PATEY
DIRECTOR
Julia started her filmmaking career in Canada at the age of 6, making fake commercials with her siblings on their family camcorder. This passion carried her through her bachelor of fine arts in Vancouver, where she studied philosophy and film production, experimenting with visual storytelling and photography. In 2013, she left her homeland behind and set off for Berlin in pursuit of new inspiration.
Julia’s work aims to create a sensual experience for the viewer using immersive cinematography and ASMR-like sound design. Her aim is to get under the viewer's skin, to show the familiar in a whole new way, augmenting reality by focusing on the details. For her, storytelling is the dance between the whole and the parts, the wide and the macro, the objective and the subjective. She is currently making commercials, short films, music videos and writing her first feature film.
